Action Plan for Jobs: South West contains a suite of actions developed by local authorities, regional bodies, higher education institutions, the private sector and communities in the South West aimed at boosting job creation in the region. It capitalises on regional strengths and assets to support businesses in the region to start-up, succeed, expand, and export.
The Plan is being monitored by an Implementation Committee, comprising regional representatives from across the public and private sectors, including ‘Enterprise Champions’—local business representatives who are working to drive the enterprise and jobs focus of the Plan.
Successful implementation of this Plan for Kerry and Cork aims to see the creation of 40,000 extra jobs in the region. Key sectors targeted as part of the plan include agri-food, tourism, life sciences, manufacturing and ICT, as well as high-potential emerging sectors like multimedia/content and the green economy, energy and marine.
