Action Plan for Jobs: Midlands contains a suite of actions developed by local authorities, regional bodies, higher education institutions, the private sector and communities in the Midlands aimed at boosting job creation in the region. It capitalises on regional strengths and assets to support businesses in the region to start-up, succeed, expand, and export.
The Plan is being monitored by an Implementation Committee, comprising regional representatives from across the public and private sectors, including ‘Enterprise Champions’—local business representatives who are working to drive the enterprise and jobs focus of the Plan.
The Midlands region covers counties Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath. The key sectors targeted in this Action Plan include manufacturing, tourism, food and energy. Successful delivery of plan is targeted at the creation of 14,000 extra jobs in the region.
