Indian tech firm HCL to create up to 100 jobs in Limerick
A global Indian technology firm with a €6 billion annual turnover, is to create up to 100 jobs at its new call centre in Limerick.
HCL Technologies provides digital computer assistance to global enterprises across a range of industries.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed 30 staff would initially start at the firm’s new call centre, at the former Eircom building, on Roches Street, Limerick.
“There will be 15 starting next Monday and a further 15 within the next two weeks,” the spokesperson said.
The company expects to hire an additional 70 staff “over the next six months” to provide “technical support services”.
HCL operates customer services on behalf of Eir from bases in Dublin, employing around 1,000 staff. The company has 200 staff in Cork and about 500 in offices in Armagh, Belfast and Kilkenny . It employs more than 117,000 people internationally.
The spokesperson also praised the efforts of Turas Nua for helping to source candidates for the available positions.
Turas delivers the Department of Social Protection’s JobPath scheme across the Republic.
“This is a good news story all round. We worked closely with Turas Nua on this. They deserve a lot of praise for helping people find employment,” the spokesperson said.
Limerick Metropolitan Mayor Cllr Sean Lynch, described the jobs boost for the city centre as “brilliant”.
“They say Ireland is the fastest growing economy and Limerick is becoming very much a part of that,” he said.
